Here are the complete results of the Fred Ward Memorial event where Bull won the title
GCW in Phenix City, AL honored the memory of long time wrestling promoter Fred Ward, who promoted wrestling in the Columbus, GA area for a long time.
Fred Ward Memorial Event. Attendance: Around 200
Bouncy Boxing match "The 80's Guy" John Bogie vs Chuck the Ring Inspector I had a pretty bad view of this match, because of the bouncy house boxing ring didn't really give that good of a view. Chuck came out to the old Muppet Show theme, so this could be the TV theme song match, as Bogie comes out the old Miami Vice theme song. Well anyways, Bogie won in the first round by TKO.
Hair vs Hair Match Randall Johnson vs "Too Hot To Handle" Frankie Valentine Before the match began, Johnson attacked Kevin Martin, who was the guest referee in the Bouncy Boxing match. Valentine wins after countering a bodyslam attempt into a small package. After the match, Johnson tried to leave but Commissioner Bo Oates stopped him and made him sit in the barber chair. Valentine shaved part of Johnson's head.
Before the next match began, Commissioner Oates returned to announced that The Naturals were not there tonight and that they violated their contract, so he stripped them of the GCW tag team titles. He said that the titles will be decided tonight as David Young and Chris Stevens will take on a team that Oates handpicked
GCW Tag Team Title Match 2 out of 3 falls "The Messiah of the Spingebuster" David Young and "The Durham Bull" Chris Stevens vs "Mr #1" Sonny Siaki and Damien Steele Damien Steele made his GCW return after a stint in Deep South as part of the tag team Ebony and Ivory with Ray Gordy. All of these guys held titles in GCW, and Siaki and Young use to be tag team champions together. Also Siaki, Young and Stevens use to be stablemates as they were all part of the Bad Company stable. Bad Company is still around, with Young, Stevens and Bull Buchanan as the members. In fall #1, Siaki and Steele pick up the win after Siaki nailed Young with a superkick In fall #2, Young and Stevens win after Young hits a neckbreaker on Steele In fall #3, time ran out and there was no winner. The crowd chanted overtime, but referee Steve Miller said that there can't be anymore time. Young got on the mic afterwards and said that the this isn't over and that the titles are still vacant, but that he wanted to shake their hands for putting on a good match. Now Stevens was a little weary, but all four shook hands.
"Electric" Chair Match DeathRow vs AJ Steele Near the end of the match, DeathRow's tag team partner, Thug Rowe came down to distract AJ, but suddenly Damien Steele, AJ's "brother" and long time GCW tag team championship partner came down and started to brawl with Thug. DeathRow tried to hit AJ with the big boot, but he ducked and hit DeathRow with a twilt a whirl RockBottom for the victory. DeathRow tried to do the famous last dance as Steele dragged him to the "electric" chair, but Steele was finally able to get him in it and the Intern threw the switch. After a few minutes, DeathRow took a page out of the Undertaker's book and came back from the great beyond and staggered to the back.
Commissionership Match Commissioner Bo Oates and "The 80's Guy" John Bogie vs Michaels' Inc members, Senior Referee Scrappy McGowan and Cru Jones The stipulations of this match was simple. If Oates and Bogie won, McGowan was to retired, but if McGowan and Jones won, Oates retires and McGowan becomes the new Commissioner. Interesting thing about this match was that Jeff McGowan, Scrappy McGowan's son, was the referee. Jones and McGowan was able to pick up the win after Jones DDTed Oates and McGowan covered him for the 3 count. So now GCW has a Commissioner named after a cartoon character. Duh duh duh, Puppy Power.
Weasel Suit match Shaun Banks w/Quentin Michaels vs Scotty Beach If Banks wins, Beach must wear a dress. If Beach wins, then Michaels must put on a weasel suit. Beach wins after hitting Banks with the Beach Bomb. Then he tried to put the dress on Banks, until Michaels came in and attacked him, but since Michaels hits like a baby, it had no effect on Beach. Beach then put Michaels in a sleeper and then put the weasel suit on him.
GCW Title Match Steel Cage Match Johnny Swinger (c) w/Quentin Michaels vs Bull Buchanan Michaels came out not wearing the Weasel suit. It looked like Swinger was going to escape with the title after he pulled referee Jeff McGowan in front of a big boot from Bull and disposed of Bull briefly. Michaels then took out referee Steve Miller, who was taking care of the door. Michaels started to help Swinger, but Sonny Siaki came down and stopped him. Siaki then slammed the door in Swinger's face and dazed him long enough for Bull Buchanan to crawl out of the cage and become the new GCW Heavyweight champion. After the match, the rest of Bad Company, David Young and Chris Stevens, came out to celebrate with their stable mate.
Next week, the midgets return to the GCW Arena. Bull Buchanan will be touring with Japanese promotion NOAH and will be gone for a few weeks. GCW leaves the safe confines of the GCW Arena Oct 19, as they go to Macon, GA for an event at Bloomfield Park. The time for the event should be 7:30 pm. Also on the 27th, GCW will be throwing a Halloween party and anyone wearing a costume will get $2 off of admission. GCW Action, GCW's TV show, will be on this Saturday at 11 am on Phenix Cable channel 7. This past Saturday the network put it on at 10:30 am.
