7/10 Ultimate NWA Results from Scottsboro, AL
Posted by Scott Hensley
It was another exciting night of Ultimate NWA Wrestling in Scottsboro, Alabama at the Jackson County Fairgrounds last night with two title matches and growing tension among Adam Roberts and Adam Jacobs.
The show began with a backstage video on the big screen, showing Adam Jacobs talking to Corey Hollis. Jacobs told Hollis he would prove to Roberts that he wasn't the one that hit him with a chair last week. Jacobs held up an envelope and Adam Roberts came in and told him he didn't need that. He said he trusted Jacobs and that things were cool. Jacobs and Hollis agreed that they were going to take advantage of their rematch clause tonight against the Rejects for the Ultimate NWA Tag Team Championship.
1) Jarek Tyler d. Matt Fortune by pinfall in a time of 7:22
Tyler has really gained the respect of the Ultimate NWA fans with his athletic style of working. Fortune is one of the most hated guys at Ultimate NWA so the crowd was pretty hot for this opener that set the stage for a great show. Both of these guys utilized their speed and agility to gain advantages throughout the match. Tyler landed a standing moonsault on Fortune. He then attempted a moonsault off the top, Fortune had it scouted and rolled out of the way, Tyler landed on his feet and tried for a second moonsault but Fortune had that scouted as well and met Tyler with knees. Fortune landed a standing shooting star but wasn't able to put Tyler away. Tyler hit a variation of a Tiger Driver for the win. Fortune threw a childish fit in the ring after the loss.
2)Patrick Bentley d. Mike Posey by pinfall in a time of 11:19
Posey has changed his ways in Scottsboro and is working on gaining the respect of the people through hard work and by showing them respect, rather than being the cocky and egotistical jerk that he once was. Bentley is just flat out intimidating with his impressive physique and icy stare. This match was very technical. Each man held his own and the fans got behind Posey, who was punished by the impressive offense of Bentley. Bentley attempted the Canadian Destroyer several times but wasn't able to connect. The two competitors fought to backslide pin one another. The larger Bentley slid Posey down and referee Jimbo Slice counted the three count, not seeing the flexible Posey's feet in the ropes above his head. Posey pleaded with Slice after the match but accepted his defeat gracefully.
We see a promo video of Ben Thrasher looking for Interim Commissioner Chase D. He finds him in a makeshift bathroom stall. Thrasher fights the smell and tells Chase they need to talk. Chase tells him that he had his chance and that he's going to have to work his way back up the ladder. Chrisjen Hayme made a brief appearance but couldn't stand the smell. Jeremiah Flynt also walked in to talk to Chase about how he was cheated out of the Rookie of the Year award(even though he's been wrestling for over ten years....)
3) Kent Reznor d. Ben Thrasher by pinfall in a time of 9:40
The huge Thrasher dwarfed Reznor and weighs in at almost twice the weight of him as well. Reznor is a fan favorite in Scottsboro and Thrasher is a monstrous, obnoxious egomaniac who is probably the founder, president, and sole member of his own fan club, unless Matt Fortune happens to be in it too. Reznor's attempts at offense were fought off with very little effort on the part of Thrasher. Reznor finally worked smarter, rather than harder and dumped a charging Thrasher over the ropes to the floor outside. Reznor slingshotted himself over the ropes for a crossbody onto Thrasher but was caught, slammed into a ring post, and then slammed on the concrete floor. Thrasher punished Reznor with devastating offense of his own, including an innovative suplex into a rock bottom. Thrasher tried for a back body drop but Kent countered with a sunset flip. Thrasher reached for the ropes but Slice wasn't having it and kicked his hands off the ropes, catching him off guard and giving Kent a chance to roll him up for the three count. Thrasher was beside himself after the match.
Jeremiah Flynt came to the ring sporting a small trophy, sash that said Rookie of the Year, and a cape. He said he CLEARLY got cheated out of the voting for Rookie of the Year and that he was taking it into his own hands and declaring himself the winner. Ring announcer Scott Hensley, once again verbally blasted the ridiculousness of Flynt being anything close to a rookie. Flynt issued an open challenge.... Adam Roberts answered it and Flynt tried to weasel his way out of it. Roberts grabbed the trophy from Flynt and when Flynt tried to grab it back, he broke it. Roberts finished it off with a big stomp of his boot to heavy cheers from the crowd that was so tired of Flynt.
4) Adam Roberts d. Jeremiah Flynt by pinfall in a time of 15:09 to retain the Ultimate NWA Heavyweight Title.
Flynt attempted his usual arsenal of stalling and cheap tactics to get an advantage over Roberts but Roberts was able to hold his own. A back and forth match between these two that saw power vs power. Roberts finally sealed the deal with a thunderous Samoan Drop on the 265lbs Flynt.
A video of the Devil's Rejects appeared on the big screen. The Rev said everyone would have to choose sides: either Ultimate NWA or The Rejects. For those who choose Ultimate NWA, there will be consequences and the Rejects will continue to rise to power.
5) The Devils Rejects w/ The Rev d. Adam Jacobs & Corey Hollis by DQ in a time of 23:31 to retain the Ultimate NWA Tag Team Championship.
A lot of write-ups will talk about a "big match feel" and this match had it last night in Scottsboro. The fans were on their feet almost the entire match and hot for this action. Jacobs and Hollis fought hard in this one and used their speed and determination to get the upperhand on the rejects. At one point, Se7en picked Corey Hollis up for a powerbomb and Hollis held onto one of the rafters above the ring. Hollis swung back onto Se7en to try to DDT him but Se7en put a stop to that. Adam Jacobs dropkicked Se7en off the top, giving Hollis the push for a DDT on him. Jimbo Slice was knocked down by Adam Jacobs after Jacobs charged Tempers in the corner and Slice was pulled in front. Jacobs put Tempers on his shoulders, tagged Hollis, and the Doomsday Knee was successfully executed on Tempers. With Slice knocked down, there was no one to count. The masked man from last week ran into the ring with a chair and Adam Roberts charged the ring, as well. The masked man bailed and Roberts picked up his chair. Adam Jacobs revived Fisher and Tempers faked being hit by the chair. Fisher saw Roberts with the chair and called for the bell. The Rejects retreated with their Tag Team Championship as tensions once again mounted with Adam Roberts and Adam Jacobs.
Adam Jacobs screamed at Roberts that he cost them their tag titles. Roberts yelled back that he just saved him from getting his brains bashed in with a steel chair. The arguing got intense, as Hollis pleaded with them to let it go. Jacobs challenged Roberts to put his belt on the line on July 24th against him and it would be friendship vs title. If Roberts wins then Jacobs will forgive him but if Jacobs wins then he is the new Ultimate NWA Heavyweight Champion. Roberts said no that this was just The Rev getting into his head and manipulating him. Jacobs slapped him and called him a coward. Roberts finally agreed as Hollis and the people of Scottsboro shook their head at Jacobs.
The return date for Scottsboro is July 24 at the Jackson County Fairgrounds. Ultimate NWA also returns to Fayetteville, TN on July 23rd at the National Guard Armory. For more information join the Ultimate Army by doing one of the following:
