[glow=red,2,300] Dan Masters' Plain Speaking: Oh, what a night! A. J. Styles came to town to defend his title versus Jason Cross and anybody in attendance can tell you they got their money's worth. A. J. is still the champion, but Cross took him to a 30 minute draw in a classic contest. Cross obviously now has to be considered one of the elite wrestlers in the world.
The match was marred only by David Young delivering his patented spine-buster to Cross after the match before being chased away by Styles. I heard scuttlebutt in the back after the matches that Young wants some respect in GCW and feels he deserves a title shot. I noticed that Young is trimming down and it looks like he may be getting in shape for the junior heavyweight division and a shot at Cross' United States Junior Heavyweight Title. Next week the two will square off in a Special Challenge Match initiated by Cross. No title will be on the line.
Another issue within the Bad Company camp is "the Source." I tried to get some answers this week, but to no avail. A lot of speculation on who it may be. Some fans think the Superstar. I have even heard my name mentioned; I must say that is a real laugher. All the signs point to one man and I for one can say I am shocked and disappointed. Maybe next week, he will have the guts to face me rather than send David Young out to do his talking.
On another note, the Steele Brothers had recently met all the obstacles placed in their way by the New York Connection, who seem hell bent on not defending their titles against the brothers from New Jersey. After beating the legendary Midnight Express, Bad Company, and the Southside Trash, the brothers both came up short this week in singles' events, losing to David Young and Kwee Wee respectively. Case closed, right?
No! Promoter Jerry Oates called the Steele Brothers to the ring and told them that they are the #1 contenders and will receive their title shot next week! The crowd popped on that! Of course, the NYC had to agree to sign for the match first, but they have committed to doing so and finally facing the challenge. I for one look forward to this much anticipated match-up next week.
The Southside Trash-John Bogie situation is heating up. After getting the upper-hand on the Trash last week, Bogie suffered another beat-down this week. After mounting a great comeback versus "Rowdy" Randy, Big Daddy hit the ring and a toe tap ensued on Bogie. Bogie had to be helped away. This coming week, Bogie has a formidable partner in Korean Champion Tiger Li Tso who will be in the states touring the NWA.
Rumors continue to mount on who is coming to GCW. Word is that this coming Saturday night, GCW will make a big announcement on a mega-superstar that has signed on!
That's about it for now folks! Don't miss "All or Nothing" this Saturday at the GCW Sports Arena. Tickets are going fast so call the GCW Hotline at (706) 888-1114 for all the news or (706) 289-8670 to reserve your seat. [/glow]
